The JKR Online Resource Centre is located at JKR SARAWAK RESEARCH CENTRE, JALAN CANNA, TABUAN JAYA, 93350 KUCHING, SARAWAK, CAWANGAN LATIHAN DAN KOMPETENSI.

This centre is part of the Departmental’s effort to create a learning organization by providing online access to JKR staff with an e-learning hub. This Online Resource Centre has a wide-range of technical books and reference materials
.


Library Rules and Regulations

 

A. Staff who wish to borrow a book from JKR Online Resource Centre must abide by all rules.


B.  REGISTRATION:

 

All JKR staff can register for free membership at JKR Online Resource Centre.  Others, such as government departments, statutory bodies, and students from colleges or universities can use the JKR Online Resource Centre for referencing only with an authorised letter, but for JKR contract staff can use it without an authorised letter.

 

C. CONDITIONS FOR LENDING:


(1) Only registered members can borrow books or references.


(2) Each member is entitled to borrow six (6) items at a time.


(3) Depending on the item type:

     The lending period for the following items is as follows:

     3.1.  Books such as engineering, management, and law.  - 2 months

     3.2.  Conference, seminar,workshop materials and lecture notes. - 2  months

     3.3.  The Sarawak Gazette, Research and Annual Report. -  2 weeks

     3.4.  British Standards and Other Standards.  -  2 days

     3.5.  Magazines, periodicals, and other publications. -  2 weeks


(4) The loan of books can be renewed for 2 weeks. There is no extension for items that are on loan for 2 weeks or 2 days.  A loan can only be renewed once.


(5) The phone renewals are not allowed when the items are overdue and members must return the items as soon as possible.


(6) To borrow materials, the borrower must contact JKR Online Resource Centre Focal Person. If it is necessary for the borrower to send another person to borrow, the borrower must tell the Focal Person that he or she is the borrower and that he or she will be responsible.


(7) The borrower is required to provide his or her ID number or name for keeping track the books or references he or she has borrowed.


(8) If the borrower has kept the materials longer than the period allowed and upon receiving a reminder via email, his or her account will be automatically blocked.  There is no lending of materials until the overdue items are cleared.  If no feedback is received, an official letter will also be issued to the borrower.


(D) LOSS OF MATERIALS:

 

(1) The borrower is responsible for the safe keeping of the materials he or she has borrowed.

 

(2) If the loan is lost or damaged, the borrower will be required to pay the book price accordingly.  And, if the borrower fails to do so, their membership will be terminated or barred from borrowing.

 

(3) If the cost of the materials is not paid up, it will be considered a debt to the government and shall be deducted from the borrowers salary, allowance and pension when he or she retires.

 

(4) Any serious infringement of these rules and regulations will be reported to the administrative level for further action.

 

 

(E) OTHERS:

 

(1) Always follow JKR Online Resource Centre rules and respect other users.
