Library Rules and Regulations

 

  1. The Public Library is under management and control of the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA).
  2. The library is under the charge of the Library Manager or any other person authorised.
  3. Books are not allowed to be taken out of the library unless it is issued and stamped at the counter by the Library Assistant or any authorised officer. Only registered members are allowed to borrow books.
  4. No person shall spoil, tear, cut, deface, damage, injured or destroy any property book of the Library and materials include any and every book, newspaper, magazine, periodical, pamphlet, picture, print, photograph, engraving, may chart, plan and any other article of alike nature forming part of the contents of the library.
  5. No person shall make a tracing or photostating of any portion of a book without prior permission from the Library Manager.
  6. No library user shall:
    • Engage in distracting conversation or make any unnecessary noise in the library. Any officer or servant of the Authority can take action against any person who are disturbing, interrupting or annoying any other person who are using the library.
    • Smoke or light a match or lighter in any part of the library.
    • Allow any animal belonging to him/her to enter in the library.
    • Drink, partake of refreshment or food in the library.
    • Lie on the benches, chairs, tables or floor of the library.
    • Enter or remain in any part of the library not set apart for the use of the public, other than the library manager or an officer or servant of the authority.
    • Use handphone and stereo walkman in the library.
  7. Any person suffering from an offensive or contagious disease are not encourage to enter in the library.
  8. Books, stationeries, wallet and valuable personal items are only allowed to be brought into the library. BDA shall not be responsible for the loss of any personal items belonging to any person using the library.
  9. Any lawful order/directive being in used in the library are to be complied with at all times.
  10. The library can be close at any time without notice when necessary.
  11. BDA reserves the right to take legal action against any library user who fails to comply with the above mentioned regulations.
