Example: MARC 21 for Electronic Data


  1. Now, we are going to convert all the cataloging information into MARC 21 format.


  2. If you are new to MARC 21, we have prepared you the most frequently used tags for cataloging electronic resources. You can download it for reference.


  3. With the information we have in the description catalogue and the call number, we can start to transform the information into the machine readable format.


  4. Fill in the information under the correct tag according to the description provided. Defined indicators has to be filled up as well. The example here represents the undefined indicators with blank space.


  5. Below is the record in MARC format. We provide you with the description for each tag.
