Introduction to Electronic Resources (Computer Files)

     

  1. Definition by AACR, electronic resources is a material (data and/or programs encoded for manipulation by a computerized device.


  2. Electronic resources can be divided into two types: electronic data and electronic program.


  3. Examples of electronic data:
    • CD
    • DVD
    • Photo CDs
    • Computer Card
    • Computer Optical Card
    • Computer Chip Catridge
    • Compuer Disk
    • Computer Optical Disc
    • Computer Tape Cartridge
    • Computer Tape Cassette
    • Computer Tape Reel
    • Floppy Disc


  4. Examples of electronic program:
    • Internet
    • Email

  5. Cataloging for electronic data and electronic program is slightly different from each other.
