On 28th June 2005, the Sarawak state-level reading month has been officiated by YB Datin Hajjah Fatimah Abdullah, Menteri Muda di Jabatan Ketua Menteri dan Menteri Muda Pertanian. The event has been hosted at the Mukah Public Library's newly established facility.

The event follows nearly a whole eventful week of Knowledge Festival (24th ~ 27th Jun 2005) with workshops, camps, exhibitions and many more.

The state-level reading month is to be carried out for the whole month of July. Please do approach your library for more details on their events for the reading month.

Angkasa Library Management System has integrated with Paybills Malaysia recently to allow members to top-up membership accounts anytime, anywhere at their convenience.

As at today, this service has been implemented for Pustaka Negeri Sarawak and Pustaka Miri. The integration also empowers members of these libraries to do online renewal of membership via LibraryNet Personal Page using the fund they have top-up via the payment gateway.

The last topic for cataloging book — "Example: MARC 21 Format" has been published. A series of topics on how to catalogue a book from doing the descriptive cataloging to transforming into MARC 21 format is now completed. It is available in Guidelines under For Librarians section.

PPM-LAS Commemorative Conference 2005

A joint 50th anniversary celebration between the Librarians' Association of Malaysia and the Library Association of Singapore will surely bring a lot of memories back and more fellowship between the libraries from both country.
